aloha birthday

gibson's 6th birthday was celebrated hawaiian style. we had palm tree invites, cupcake cake, and pinata. we decorated with all sorts of festive "stuff". the plan was to put up our big slide outside and all the kids could swim and slide. however, the day was a bit on the cool and rainy side (surprise, surprise). although i had some games/activities planned i had to come up with a few more to pass the time. so we played pail toss (toy bucket, shovel, ball), hula hoop activity, hot coconut (instead of hot potato!), aloha bingo, and beach bag relay (my favorite - a beach bag filled with beach attire to dress up in). the kids enjoyed them all, but the pinata was a huge hit and at the end we did run around outside a bit. a very special first birthday with friends party and i'd say it was a success!!
